Joseph Smith, along with his wife Emma, and Oliver Cowdery move to the Peter Whitmer Farm in Fayette, NY. Here, they would complete the translation of the Book of Mormon. Also, the Three Witnesses would see the angel and the plates from which the translation came from. In addition to David, Oliver, and Martin being witnesses of the Book of Mormon, I’ll share with you the story of three women who also stand as witnesses to the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.
Doctrine and Covenants 13 so applicable to ALL members of the Church. In fact, understanding the historical content of this Section and seeing how applicable it is to each of us, will help us do and accomplish what the Lord is now asking of us today.
What was on the 116 manuscript pages and how did the Lord compensate for the loss? So many miracles that allowed the work, and the word, move forward! 2,400 years before the pages would be lost, the Lord put in place a perfect plan. Plus, Section 11, although directed at Hyrum, is so applicable to those who want to serve the Lord today.
Joseph Smith prayed for a scribe and the Lord sent Oliver Cowdery. Getting Joseph and Oliver together was simply another miracle the Lord provided in bringing forth the Book of Mormon. Oliver’s questions, and the answers provided in these Sections are so relevant today. It’s as if Sections 6-9 were written as council to the Latter-day Saints of 2021! This week in our Come Follow Me lessons, we learn important truths of how to gain a testimony, defend that testimony, and some things about the translation of the plates. Enjoy the Church History stories behind this week’s Come Follow Me lessons.
